Children's Program:

The Beyond Divorce Children's Program runs at the same time as the program for adults. It is for the children of a parent who is attending the workshop, and is offered at no additional charge.

Children between the ages 2-1/2 (must be potty-trained!) through sixth grade/age 12 are welcome. This is not a child-care service but a legitimate and effective program for children to feel comfortable with being 'divorced' and to be with other children going through the same difficult experience.

Our mission is to bring HOPE and a SENSE of SECURITY OUT of the BROKENNESS of separation or divorce, and to look foward a BRIGHTER FUTURE through the understanding that the divorce is the parents' responsibility as is the solution to it. But they will always love and take care of their children.

Our goal is to provide a SAFE PLACE for children to SHARE, TALK and have FUN, through the love and guidance of Jesus Christ.

This program for the children includes a variety of activities. There is time to interact and have fun in a relaxed, semi-structured setting with other children whose parents are going through divorce.

Each week there is an arts and craft activity.
A group time that includes a story, a puppet skit and a magic trick all related to the topic.
The group is divided into two age appropriate groups for discussions on the same topic as in the adult program.
A snack is also served.
There are interesting questions provided to continue open-ended discussion at home.

This program provides the child a safe, non-judgemental setting in which they can talk about some of the issues they are experiencing related to their parents' divorce. In addition, they have the opportunity to relate with other children who may be having similar, or different, reactions to the changes that have occurred, or are occurring, within their family. We are blessed to have some very talented, caring volunteers who run the children's program, most have been through a divorce as a child or an adult..

If you are attending the Beyond Divorce program for adults, and wish to have your child/children in the Children's Program, please pre-register them if possible. If your decision to include your child is made at the last minute please don't hesitate to bring them and register at the first meeting.
